The Adventure Of The Retired Colourman by Arthur Conan Doyle is about a man named Josiah Amberley who lives off of his money from his successful job. He lives with his wife. He came to Sherlock Holmes and Watson with a problem. His wife and best friend have disappeared. His best friend Dr. Ray Ernest lives in the house next door to him. They would play chess together all the time. Dr. Ray Ernest and Mrs. Amberley supposedly ran off together taking lots of Josiah Amberley’s money with themselves. They ran away and stole his money in the process. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson went to visit Josiah Amberley. He went back to Sherlock Holmes and told him about his visit to Josiah’s house. He described the house and how a mustached man was staring at him when he asked for directions. Later, Sherlock Holmes found out that those two were murdered by none other than Josiah Amberley, their “victim”. I think this story is weird because Josiah Amberley murdered the two most important people in his life. His best friend and his wife. I think it is weird how there is a murderer in every single Sherlock Holmes story that I have ever read. It is also always the person you least expect. I think it is interesting how Josiah Amberley put Sherlock and Dr. Watson in a huge situation that was hard to solve. Then they noticed it was actually the person that dragged Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson into the mess. I think it is weird that Josiah murdered Mrs. Amberley and Ernest in a garden. To me that is the weirdest place to find two dead bodies laying there. It is weird that Amberley would think of murdering his best friend and his wife. Who would think of murdering his wife and his best friend? I feel weird that Sherlock and Watson sometimes fall for some dumb things like a man who said someone murdered his best friend and his wife, but in reality he murdered them. In the beginning, I thought that Mrs. Amberley and Ray Ernest ran off and started a new family without him. I thought Mrs. Amberley would divorce with him and run off to start a family with Dr. Ray Ernest. I think this story was interesting. This story could potentially have many endings and they would be good and interesting.
